Our Philosophy

An obsession with matter, emptiness, and light

In Breton, Sked means light. Not just the light that illuminates, but the light that reveals. The kind that gives soul to matter, sculpts emptiness, and transforms an object into a presence. This is the principle that guides every creation at sked.studio.

We are not a traditional design house. We design our pieces as micro-architectures, silent volumes that enter into dialogue with the space around them and the light that passes through them.

Our approach is a manifesto: that of craftsmanship in the digital age. We believe that today's tools are not there to replace human vision, but to augment it. Our creative process is a constant dialogue between the designer's intention and the exploratory power of algorithms. This is how we discover new forms and unexpected structural tensions.

Once the idea is digitally sculpted, the process becomes profoundly human again.

Each concept is then entrusted to the hands of European artisans, partners chosen for their technical mastery and respect for the material. Precise thermoforming, millimeter-precise assembly, hand-polishing to perfection: it is this irreplaceable expertise that gives life and substance to the vision.

This encounter between digital design and the artisan's hand is the signature of sked. studio. Each piece is not a simple product, but the result of an intentional process, a story of material, light, and innovation.

A vision born from intuition

I am Goulven Le Pensec, founder of SKED.STUDIO.

Born in Lorient, in the heart of Brittany where light constantly interacts with raw materials, I have always been driven by a quest for creation. The son of a designer, I grew up with a sensitivity for aesthetics and the purity of forms, cultivating an eye that appreciates the self evidence of a piece without needing to dissect it. It is this heritage that led me to name this project "Sked," which means "light that reveals" in Breton.

My background is atypical. As a frontline caregiver, I am dedicated to people and what matters most. What guides me in everything I do is the deep satisfaction of seeing someone smile after my care, knowing that I have met a real need. This same quest for usefulness and meaning fuels my passion for design.

Without any academic training, I have developed an intuitive approach, guided by a fascination with materials, particularly acrylic, which I see not as a plastic, but as a prism capable of revealing the immaterial.

SKED. STUDIO is the culmination of this intuition. It's a project where my "human intention," my sensitivity forged by daily contact with others, meets the power of algorithmic exploration. This "Augmented Design" allows me to translate a vision into a tangible object that meets a genuine need: that of bringing beauty and light into our homes.

It's a story of passion, perseverance, and the belief that a piece of design can, simply by its presence, provide the same satisfaction I feel when I see the joy in the eyes of someone I care for. Bringing light and poetry into our lives is my contribution.
